The ongoing battle with the laundry pile.

The ongoing cleaning of the house....maybe I should say never ending.

Go to the store for milk and might as well stock up while I am there.

Order prints so I have something to scrap next weekend.

Hand in paperwork for Charlie.

Dinner?

The good news is that I know for sure I am getting a haircut so that will get crossed off very soon.....can't wait!!

Everyday Shots

Hi there.

American Idol....not liking the whole interviewing of family members thing....and the contestants weren't very good.....I did like Danny though, my fave.

Not raining today.  Took C and C to the ENC in Newport Beach. No camera....Mannie had the camera today at work...this shot of where he was.

Anyway, at the ENC..  they were having "Nature Camp" with the theme of survival skills.  It was really cool....the kids were building little huts made of sticks and leaves and the camp director was making a little campfire and cooking soup and roasting marshmellows on it.  We sort of "camped" ourselves right next to them since they were right next to the little waterfall area that we like.  The kids in the camp were really nice kids and they were showing C and C little crayfish they were catching.  C and C started to build a dam on the waterfall and some of the camp kids started to help them.  Then we went on an exploration hike and had a picnic.  We were there for a few hours...it felt sooooooooo good to do something outdoors.

The kids are outside playing as we speak.....we are waiting on dinner right now.

Took a few everyday shots with a long lense....having a brain freeze as to the correct name right now...anyway, I was pretending to be the paparazzi and hiding behind things to take close ups from afar..... practicing before the sports season officially begins.  Mannie was trying to read the paper, eat some peanuts and drink a beer so he wasn't thrilled with my paparazzi tactics.   I got a really good shot of him expressing his dislike of my lense practice but I thought it might not be appropriate for the blog...but it was a really great shot, blurred background and all!

Much Better

Right now it is raining in my backyard and sunny with a rainbow in my front yard....pretty amazing stuff!

I am feeling better today even though it is 1/2 raining.

I scrapped a quick LO yesterday and got out to see  a movie and dinner.....saw "He's Just Not that Into You"....really good movie.  Saw a bit of my old self(pre Mannie) in alot of the characters.

Nice to just be out and chatting with Sheela.   

Oh, your comments cracked me up......and no I don't chew that much gum....that is what was so funny about it all.   I used to chew a lot of gum...Big Red was the flavor of choice!   

But anyway, you made me laugh again!  I will forever associate looking for gum in my purse with something else! LOL.

I'm a Homebody but this is Ridiculous!

O.K.....I am officially tired of being at home.....I am officially sick of the rain!!  That's it....over IT!!!

I think we have done every possible indoor activity known to man......and I decided that there is NO video watching today!!  Which just makes it that much harder to fill the day with things to do!  

I want green mountains, so I know complaining is uncool but good Lord get me out of this house!!  Unfortunately, leaving the house involves spending lots of money so I have been trying to avoid that.  Right now however, Mannie took the kids to go buy(leaving=spending) a tball thing so they can play in the garage. That is passing some time.....but I miss the sun!

Facebook update.......can we Defriend people??......hear me out, i know that sounds snobby but listen to this!

So this guy that I went to college with "friends" me....so I thought, well, that is nice, so great to hear from him...yadda, yadda, yadda.....so then i write on his wall......blah, blah, say hi to your wife, your kids are cute...blah, blah!  Well, then he writes back to me on my wall....o.k, that was nice and I find out he is having a baby soon... so i go back over to his wall to congratulate him on a new baby and he had deleted my message......I was surprised but thought maybe there was some good reason....so then i write on his wall again to congratulate him.....well, you know, i couldn't just leave it at that, i clicked over later to see if he had deleted this new message.........and you know what??? Not only had he deleted that message but he had deleted the little blurb that says, "blah blah is now friends with Annie Adams"......I couldn't believe it......all the other "friends" names were there....just me, deleted......what the hell?  He was the one who looked me up and "friended" me......can you believe it?

So strange....and then there are the few people who never update their status or write to you EVER! Their walls are just "so and so is friends with so and so" or "so and so just joined the group I Collect Facebook Friends" ...... What is up with that?  They just collect friends....they don't appear to communicate with anyone, just collect friends....strange.  I know the status updates are silly but at least you know that there are people out there being friendly not just having some weird virtual friend collection.

Well, that is my FB rant, so to speak.....not really a rant.....just more of an observation of social behavior...sounds more scientific and intellectual that way, doesn't it?

Alrighty then....I suppose I will go fold some laundry....sorry for being a bit grumpy......chat later!

Apparently We like Gum!

Cami gave us this card for Valentine's Day......we just laughed so hard.

I think she must have really wanted some gum when the teacher was interviewing her....LOL!!!  Kids crack me up!

We had a really nice Valentine's Day.  Went to a 3D IMAX movie about the sea....it was awesome but enough with the cuddlefish already!!    I hadn't been to a 3D movie in a while and to see the sealife upclose like that was amazing....made me want to go snorkeling so badly.  Crazy expensive for a family of 5 though....we had gift certificates so that was cool.

Then we went to Benihanna (sp?) and had a wonderful dinner.  Hadn't been in years and the kids loved it...Cara said, "This is very entertaining!!".....she loved the experience and the food the most.  Cam and Charlie enjoyed the entertainment but not so much the food....they liked the rice.  The chicken was not cooked the way "Mommy makes it" so they didn't eat it.....but they did enjoy being chefs themselves with all the food on their plates.  Overall, a really yummy meal and fun night as a family.

Didn't have my camera..bummer...would loved to have gotten some shots for a LO but oh well.

I suppose the rain is coming tonight....I love the rain and the green mountains that will follow but I have to say I am getting really tired of being indoors and trying to think of things to keep us busy!!  

We gave the kids Madagascar 2 for VDay.....I thought it was weird, didn't really like it...glad we didn't spend 50 bucks on it at the theatre.

and Ali's little one.....too cute!!  and could Karen Russell be any more adorable??  

Just a little blog LOVE for you on this Valentine's Day......we will be leaving shortly to go see a movie with the kids.

We are having a nice day.....the kids loved the treasure hunt and then I made a brunch for all.

Mannie had to work first thing this morning so I kept the kids cooped upstairs until he got home.  Man and I had set up the treasure hunt and didn't want them to go downstairs until he was back at 10:30.  They were really patient though so that was nice (me sarcastic!!)

Mannie LOVED the pillow.....yay!

It's All About the Pillows this Year!

For teacher.....

Cara is off to sell her pillows.

I am going over to take a few pictures.

Then off to read to Charlie and Cam's and do a little VDay activity.

I took a picture of Cara today....I wanted to replicate the shots that Maria Grace got using the candy hearts and I opened the package and all the words to the candy hearts were melted off....how lame is that?  So, I am going to try again after I buy a non melted pack of those gross hearts!  But it may be hard to do as the rain is on it's way....not sure how many sunny moments I will have.

Anyway...Maria Grace's photography is so beautiful!  

That is all for today....I am starting to feel the "I am freaked out by the internet" feelings that I periodically get so if you have read my blog long enough, you know what that will mean!

Sewing with Cara

Cara's class is having a Valentine's Day Store where the kids will be selling items in order to make "money".  They earn fake money during each month and then at the end of every month, they can use their money to buy things from the teachers treasure box.  So, we came up with the idea of sewing pillows since Cara has made one with Gia.  The kids can use their fake money to shop at each other's stores.

I couldn't believe that Cara actually knew how to use the sewing machine.  I knew that she and Gia had worked on one before making the pillow i just mentioned but i didn't realize the extent to which Gia had taught her.   Have  you ever found out something about your kid that you never knew?  It is a weird feeling.  I could actually leave her and go into the kitchen while she was sewing.  She has no fear and steps on that pedal like she is merging on the 5 freeway....I was trying to bite my tongue.  I would say Cara and I are at the same skill level but i am impressed with her because she is 6 years old.  Therefore, these pillows have some sewing flaws like the parts that i have to hand sew to close up the pillows.  I need to figure out how to do that!

We made 5 pillows yesterday and we were turning to each other at points asking each other who's idea this was.....sewing isn't all that fun all the time.  But I have to say that when she walked into the scraproom this morning and looked over her work, she was proud of her hard work.  A little motivation to make more today after school.

We are using her artwork as the pocket that holds little Valentine goodies.  These are like the pillows that Gia has been making for homeless shelters, child shelters and the Crystal Cove charity event.  Gia scanned Cara's artwork and printed them out on fabric.  Very cool.

Well, off to get ready for a busy day.  The sun is shining today but it is freezing.

3 Little Kittens

Rainy weekend here.

We spent most of it indoors at home.  Mannie now has the cold that Cara had.....he gets sick every February without fail.

Yesterday, we did an activity that I was going to do on DEAR day....we read the 3 Little Kittens....then I gave the kids one mitten each and told them they had to go find the match to their mitten.

I filled the mittens with little goodies and a note.  That was a great way to pass some time yesterday.

Other than that.....ran 2 errands....which included a big restocking of the pantry!

Do you ever find yourself in the car, alone and singing at the top of your lungs to a favorite song?  Then actually feeling embarrassed when you mess up the lyrics to the song...you look around for a second, as if someone is there....i even found myself glancing down at my cell phone to make sure that it didn't  call someone by accident....anyway, is it just me?  maybe...but i do stop singing when i pass someone on the freeway.....they might hear me or look over and know that i am screaming the words to a song ;)  

Good times....shopping without kids.

I am going to make tostada salads tonight for dinner.

Well, off to go clean up after a weekend indoors....and get out of my pj's by 2:00.
