We had quite the adventure down on Balboa Island!  

Hope you had a fun day and are beating the heat!!! Dam it is hot out!

Gotta love a good jumping for joy picture and you have to LOVE the murals in Balboa!!!!  I think I could spend a week there just looking and looking and looking!!!!  

Well, off to shower and hit the sack, very busy and tiring.

We took a little family field trip over there and LOVED it!

So many cool snakes, lizards and turtles....even little bity turtles.

I was very brave and touched all the animals and even let a snake slither around my neck!!  It was cool!

We hit this place for dinner....hoping to not wake up at 4am needing to brush my teeth again!

Dinner was yummy!

We rented Marley and Me last night.......holy cry fest!!!!  I was so sad......I want a dog now.  I loved how Marley comforted Jenny after her miscarriage!

It is SLOW start Friday!!

I went out to dinner with my pal, Julie, last night and I got a regular old salad but for some reason the ranch dressing was over the top powerful!! I still taste the salad today and I am thinking I will never get that salad again!!!  I was up a lot last night because of it....I was brushing my teeth and flossing at like 4 am thinking, a salad?? What the heck?  And I have a stomach ache too.....not recommending the Cheesecake Factory garden salad!

Bad food aside, it was awesome to hang with Julie!!!!  Loved chatting with you Jules!!!

Anyway, I scrapped yesterday.....a LO about me, inspired by Candice's post!  

I love the MAMBi fill in the blank, "I {heart}___________ "....I had an old rub on that said "simple pleasures" and ta da, I had a LO.  And I sewed on it!!!  That was fun!

Candice and I are running in parallel universes because I am also going to get my hair done today!!! I really need it badly so that is cool.  I am going to bring the book I am reading b/c the appt. always takes 4 hours and I run out of magazines in that time...although the girl who does my hair is the sweetest and we do usually chat alot.

Today is off to an incredibly slow start, I can't believe it is almost 11 am.  

We have no plans except the hair appt.  I am still in my p.j.'s....I wonder if it is as hot today as it was yesterday?  I am wanting to go do something but at the same time, I know that in 2 weeks I will be rushing around so I am going to ENJOY the slow start and take it all in!!!!

ETA.....we have a politician in our family, did you know that? Yes, I introduce you to the self proclaimed "Mayor of Boredville"!!!  Hanging out at home for 2 days isn't sitting well with the Mayor!!!  She got out that darn craft book again today....I shot down a couple of project ideas!! The Mayor is getting ready to fire her "Director of  Special Projects".... maybe school starting up soon isn't such a bad thing after all ?!!! ;)

Just when I thought I had nothing!!!! I've got something!!!

It is SOOOOOOOO hot here......oven, Las Vegas, dry heat!! I can't stand it, I am a wimp!!!

I haven't left the house except to take a couple of pictures outside of the kids.

I can't deal!!  

We have been busy little bee's over here....Cara has found this craft book that I own(Get Crafty by Vivienne Bolton) and she is hell bent on making every project in the book!!! I want to hide the book so the crafting can end already!!!! I love a good craft but these are very involved and sometimes a mommy just doesn't want to paint and glue and get out fishing wire and sort thru stickers for fish related stickers and cut out little tiny fish and get aquarium rocks all over the kitchen and clean it all up!!! Sometimes a mommy just wants to read blogs or maybe watch Oprah!! ;)

Ha, Ha!

So, I have a fun (I know, the write up probably isn't selling it) but a fun little craft for those of you who want to stay indoors during the hot, hot, hot, hot.....did I mention hot? Yes, hot heat of the day!!! 

Make an aquarium!!

We took full cereal boxes and emptied them....meaning that now I have 3 plastic lone bags of cereal floating around in my pantry with no boxes to house them....but anyway, cut a square on either end of the cereal box......gesso the design away....have the kids paint the box, aka...aquarium.

Draw little sea life creatures....cut out......get some fishing wire.....or dental floss.....hang fishies...cut up some colored tissue paper and hang from the ceiling of the aquarium.....glue the aquarium rocks on the bottom (we just happened to have some from deceased pets).....and then decorate the outside of the aquarium......hours of fun for all!!! 

Alright, off to take a nap!  in the Air Conditioned house......thank you to the person who invented a/c!!!  This kind of heat makes think the end of summer just might be an okay idea!!

Hello World.....you are beautiful today!!!

Today is looking like the most beautiful day in the world.......why did I choose today to clean my house and do gobs of laundry?

Well, I really have no choice, that is just the way it goes!!!

But let's see how fast I can get stuff done so we can get out there and enjoy a gorgeous day!!

I got the back to school shopping done...except for 2 pink erasers......couldn't find lone erasers anywhere in Target!  I am hoping the teacher will be o.k. with letting Cara use the erasers on one of her 2 dozen pencils she wanted us to buy! :)  They started a service at school where I can buy all the supplies thru them and have them delivered to the house....I opted to do the shopping myself this year.....I was thinking that I needed to shop for back to school as part of the annual end of summer ritual...like I wouldn't actually believe that it was really the end of summer if I didn't take that trip to Target and load up on back to school supplies....which I think may be a little bit true..but I think next year I will go with the service.  It is also a fundraiser for the school so it is convenient and a good cause..duh!.oh well, next year!

I think I may get out the old crockpot today so I can just get dinner over with already, especially since I may be getting a late start on the day and therefore getting home late!

The kids have been enjoying the white house science table....would love to take them there {for real} soon since we are learning about it.  I love learning about the themes as well, I always learn something new.

We made little pop up white houses....and they got to design their own rose gardens using fake mini flowers from Michaels.  The image is here.... just in case you want to make a white house too!  

I finished up a LO yesterday that I started the other day.

I am working on back to school buckets for the kids teachers. I will post those in a couple of days to share.  I got clear painters buckets from Michaels..... and white chocolate for their candy apples...I am going to do a test run to see how it all comes out.  So I am almost done with that portion of "back to school" and then I will be totally ready for the first day.

Well, I suppose I have procrastinated enough and need to go eat breakfast and get moving on my chores.

Anyone else used to watch it?

I watched it when I was in high school and maybe college......a llllllllooooooooong time ago.

Funny that I watched it because how could I relate at all to any of the characters?....maybe I was curious about what life would be like when I was older.....why choose that show to see? Who knows but I did.

I just saw the cast on Good Morning America.  It is out on DVD now and I didn't realize that 2 of the characters are on Brothers and Sisters....I wonder if I would like that show?  I think I will check it out.

Seeing them on t.v. brought back memories of when I was younger watching the show....now I am in my last thirtysomething year now....o.k. I am getting depressed now.

I need to go get dressed.

Mannie is off to his "Alpine Merger Meeting"...it is a joke from the movie R.V.......he has a meeting today and I think I have heard him make this "Alpine Merger Meeting" joke at least 5 times.....he and the kids think this movie is just the funniest! It is funny but maybe not quotable! 

OMG> he just said as he was leaving the house, "I'll say hi to the Gornikie's for you!"

You have to see it to "get it" ........ or maybe not :)  Actually, the clip is pretty funny.

Well, he gets a kick out of it anyway, good for him for keeping himself amused, gotta love it.  He is such a goof!

Today was a good day.....

A good day for Annie involves......

1. Laughing.

2. Candy. or any junk food for that matter ;)

3. Scrapbooking.

4. Laughing some more!

Suzy took me and the kids out to lunch to celebrate ye old birthday.....she gave me candy as a gift, lots of candy from the one and only Powells!!!  and then we scrapbooked!! 

I scrapped this LO which she generously shared her supplies for and not only took  the photos but printed them out as well!

Time to go....we are having family movie night.....watching the movie R.V. for the 100th time.....time for popcorn and more candy of course :)

Tomorrow, I am hoping to finish up back to school errands and then I will just concentrate on the end of summer for the next 2 weeks!!

Rats, it's my Birthday!!!!

Hi there.....August 23rd....a day set aside for little ole me in my little ole world!!

I had a very SPOOKY birthday today!!  The kids wanted to plan a birthday party for me so they decided on a Halloween theme.  They talked Mannie  into taking them to the party store to buy some new decorations "just for the party!".....one of those decorations happened to be a RAT!! Just what every mommy wants to eat breakfast with :)

They also picked up bagels, muffins and donuts....so we ate all that junk and we were going to head out to the annual RODEO but we totally crashed mid day....all 5 of us just completely crashed.  We went up to my room to watch a movie and I feel asleep, so did Mannie.  The kids watched BOLT.  

I guess I am really feeling my age today!!  

So, we  went out to dinner at Claim Jumper (SUZY we missed you, LOL!!!!  I am SO over those pretzels btw).....then dessert at the Rainforest Cafe because doesn't every mommy dream of The Rainforest Cafe for her birthday?  Of course :)

Anyway.......so we order the VOLCANO which is this big brownie and ice cream monstrasity with a big ole sparkler ontop right?  Because I needed my birthday song sung to me.....right?  I needed a HUGE sparkler to blow out and make a big ole wish, right???  Yes!

Suddenly, my girls have to pee so we get up and go.  When we come back....the waiter had already brought out the volcano....the sparkler was gone......there was no song.........womp, womp!!!

Oh well......there is always next year......40!!! I am going to do 40 BIG!!! Maybe 2 sparklers and Chuckie Cheese after!!!!!  And a bunch of fake rats for breakfast!!! Like 40 of them!!!

Yeah!!!!  

Happy birthday to me!!! :)  

I have loved every minute of my 30's.....well, not every minute, but it's been  a great decade....i got the 3 best little buddies a girl could ever wish for......so who needs a dumb sparkler and a song?....I have no wishes left in me, right?!!! 

That's right!:)

International Relations

We have family visiting from up north.....Mannie's sister, her hubby and their kids....plus my brother in law's family from Slovakia(his sister, her hubby and their 2 kids, Radka and Lanka).  They don't speak english.  I should also add, we don't speak Slovak.  We all met at the beach for some fun in the sun but there was no sun......but we still had fun! 

I did the smiling and nodding and pointing thing.  I even managed to get a laugh out of my brother in law's sister....I was very proud of myself accomplishing a joke without words!!  Well, actually I was pointing to a big rock that Cara and Lanka were lugging around the beach and I did say, "Slovakia!!!" meaning were they  going to take the heavy rock home with them on the airplane.....she got it! She laughed.   

The kids boogie boarded(as in standing on the board in the sand waiting for water to come up around the board :) They also dug large holes and built sandcastles.

But the key to having a day at the beach and not being able to communicate in the same language?!....sports!

They started up a game of baseball and I sat on the sidelines for a bit taking pictures but then I joined in and had lots of fun.  It turns out that hive fives and clapping break the language barrier.....smiles and pointing help too!

Maybe a baseball game with North Korea is in order?  

Just saying.

The kids are very excited for Webkinz Day at the Red Bee!!!!  Who's going?  They have been talking about it for the past week!
