Procrastination Station

 Hi there....had a few moments before I need to get serious about packing.

We had a doctor appt. for Charlie this morning and then got the kids to school and just wanted to chill for a second before I got moving on the packing thing.

We got sort of a second opinion on his essential tremor since it has been a few years since being diagnosed....we haven't noticed any change at all which is good(not getting worse, I barely notice it at all actually)....funny thing, the doctor giving us the second opinion taught the first doctor we saw...this new doctor didn't see signs of any tremor today but he also said that the tremor doesn't go away over time, just gets worse....but overall, the tremor isn't affecting any part of Charlie's life so that is good for now.  We wanted to see if we should be doing some sort of occupational therapy and I was a little concerned about how things would go next year when they start doing timed tests and all that in first grade. But the doctor wasn't concerned about that.  He said that all of Charlie's functions (like writing his name or eating with a fork) are normal so no need for OT.  As far as  timed test go, we will have to see when it comes up.  Cara has struggled with the timed test thing  so I guess I am overly concerned about that.  

So, everything is good.  Just wait and see.  

Cara's party was a success....a happy birthday girl! 
 It was a very low key party....a craft then handball down at the school, then cupcakes and a pinata!  Just the kind of party to throw when going on a trip a couple of days later.
 

Drew, Joann and the kids stayed for pizza after and it felt like summer sitting out on the patio chatting.  I can't wait for the carefree days of summer.  Today is gloomy and gross....so amazing how quickly the weather changes.

Suzy came with her two girls as well and while we took the kids down to play handball, Suzy scrapped a LO in my scraproom.  I am always AMAZED at her talent, how she comes up with these fabulous LO's is beyond me!!!  Here it is.....
 

That is about it for today....I suppose I will go pack.  I did a little packing last night after the party so I have gotten a jump start on it!  We have Charlie's conference after school today too.

Well, have a nice spring break...I will be back here in blogland sometime in the next 2 weeks!
   

Cara's Big Day!!!

 Today is a good day!!! My little pal and angel CARA was born!!!

Thank you GOD!!!!!!! 

It will be a fun day for my girl and the weather looks gorgeous!

Somehow I have managed to get lots of stuff done and not feeling stressed!  House is clean...that was actually the biggest task on my list....I always feel that when the house is clean then everything else seems to flow! 

We went to Man's game yesterday and they WON!!! Always so much more fun when they win.  Fun to see Mannie play. Fun to be back with the baseball gang too!  See happy guy below?? 
 

After, we went to dinner with a group of friends on the team! We went back to Fullerton.....I LOVE Fullerton!

Same place....Heroes!  LOVE that place!  
 

All is good in the Adams World today!

Ps.....We finally upgraded Cara from the Princess bike!!! Now she is officially a BIG GIRL!!!

Big Day for Charlie

 Yesterday we had Cara's game and then headed over for Charlie's game!

Charlie had a great game....he had a great play at third...he hit a double.....and he got the game ball!!! (and so did another kid...our team does 2 players per game!)
 

Then we went out to eat dinner at our local sports bar and Charlie bonked his mouth on the table by accident and his other front tooth fell out!! He now has a toothless grin and he sounds a little different when he talks!

Big Day for the little guy! This is Charlie sliding into home....look where the plate is! He is so cute! 
 

Today we have baseball for the Big Guy! Gooooo Whales!! Mannie already left in his cute little baseball pants.....we will be joining him in  a little bit! 

Tomorrow is Cara's big day!!!!  
 

What about Cami? Well, she just ate a BIG cinnamon roll.....does that count?

In other news....... to add to my Reflections envy!! I read on KP's blog that she is going to be a teacher!!!! Man, that is going to be the best event EVER!!! Soooooo want to go!!! Oh well...I will live vicariously through everyone else's blog posts! 

Countdown to NY....3 more days!!!! I should be stressed out when I think it is only 3 days away because I have tons of laundry to do....haven't started packing....have a birthday party to throw...a doctor appt. to go to for Charlie regarding his "essential tremor"......Charlie's school conference......okay, maybe I am stressing a bit.   We are all excited though.....the kids can't wait to see their Gammy and Pappa! I have been looking into Central Park...I have only been to a portion of it...a tiny little portion.  I made a scavenger  hunt for us....but the problem is....the park is 240 acres...and I have no idea where everything is on my list.....should be an adventure for sure!

Well.....after realizing exactly what I do need to get done.....I suppose I will go get dressed and then go watch a baseball game......then back here to get more stuff done!!

Happy Flowers!

 The spring flowers are in bloom!

I am dragging my children to this field for a photo shoot! 

We were there earlier and it looks soooooo pretty!

But we were in baseball game gear and that is cute but not exciting for a flower field picture.  Plus the lighting wasn't the best!

I am hoping the other things I do to make life fun for them balances out the annoying Mommy photo obsession for my kids! 
  

But how can you resist a beautiful field of wildflowers???????

It is so hard to be a mom....I could have never imagined how embroiled my life would be in these kid's every breath before I became a mom.  Unreal.  You make sure they have their hair brushed, teeth brushed, have they eaten enough? Are their finger nails clean? their ears? do they have friends? are they learning? are they healthy? it is just endless, the little and big details of their life that you are completely wrapped up and an important part of.

It turns out that twin day was not a note sent home(another thing I was beating myself up over....did a note come home and I not read it?)......no, it was a spirit day idea by the student council that was mentioned at the end of yesterday.  Hopefully, the kids didn't have enough time to coordinate perfectly matching outfits in that short of a time.  I still think it is a dumb idea though.

I went to Catholic school and we all wore uniforms....we all looked exactly the same.....no twin days or anything like that.  Sort of boring, but I think I like boring.  I like the idea of uniforms too.....no trying to figure out what to wear each day.

This incident was a tiny little glimpse into the rest of the years to come....yes, I am happy with Cara's reaction.  I couldn't see that as a cool thing at the time, all I could think of was her with no partner!! I am glad she had a calmer reaction....she must get it from her dad!!  

The crazy thing is.....this is something that was about her and I turned into all about ME! I blamed myself....how self centered of me.  Again though, just shows how much of ME I have wrapped up in them.

The way I see it I can learn a few things from this.....1. I need to get a life of my own.....They are NOT ME! I am not them.  I can be their mom and they can be their own person.  

2. But, that being said, I do need to make more of an effort to form my own friendships around here...which then will make the playdate thing easier.  I am still living in denial thinking we are in preschool....I am. Cara has had 2 pals her whole life, Beth and Mia.  I always think that everything is just fine and dandy because she has her 2 best pals!!  The fact of the matter is, we rarely see each other and although they will always be her best pals for sure, I still need to help her along the way to find some "best pals" locally.  I will do my best to make more of an effort.  So, I did learn that yesterday.  

I just don't see how people have the time to have playdates, an after school program like a sport and get homework and dinner done.  How?  I am more of a slow pace kinda gal.  Softball and baseball is enough for me quite frankly.....that is what I need to figure out....that is where part of the problem lies with me. 

Anyway, I am totally rambling....just wanted to say thanks and that in the end, I think Cara was fine with it all....I wasn't because I sort of looked at the biggger picture of it all and freaked out.  But, I do think it was a little wake up call.  

I will learn.....but I will be honest.....I am still yearning to get those preschool days back too!

Twin Day

 I am sick to my stomach.

It is the little things in life that can always bug me....and especially if it involves my kids.

Cara comes home from school today and tells me that tomorrow is "Twin Day"....she has no one to be twins with.  

Okay, right to my gut with that one! I am feeling so bad.  She mentions this to me as we walk away from school and I stop right there and turn around to go back and find her a twin.  She is like, "No mom, I am okay, you don't have to find me a twin. Everyone in the class already has a twin! Don't go back Mom!"  I am like, "Well, can't you be a triplet??" (desperation in my voice)

Cara is like, "No Mom, I am fine, I like being unique, it's okay"......I know she didn't want me to embarrass her by going up to one of the kid's Mom and asking for her.

I am just so sad for my girl.  Why do they have Twin Day anyway?  What educational value is that? It has nothing to do with anything.....except leaving some kids feeling left out. 

It is hard as a parent to think that your kid might feel left out or alone.....she doesn't have to be popular but at least have a go to buddy in situations like this.

I, of course, blame myself.....I need to do more play dates.....I am anti social in this town myself, so naturally my kids would be too.  She has never complained about school and friends.  She always appears happy and loves it....except for a few random nights when she has cried over a timed test. 

I seriously blame myself.....I feel awful. And her birthday is in a few days......my poor baby.

I suck.

Froggy Fun!

 Yesterday as I was cleaning away, I had all the windows open and could hear a loud  croaking! 

So, I alerted my little safari hunters and they set out to catch a frog!

I am amazed at the plethora of wildlife here at our home....it is not like I live in the country! But, in our little backyard there is always something fun to hunt for! 

Anyway, they caught him and they had  a great ole time with "Froggy".  Isn't he just the cutest??? 
 

Cami of course was the one who just couldn't let it go....she played with froggy for a long time after the others had lost interest and moved on. I was inside getting dinner ready and watched her from the kitchen window.  She sat there humming away putting him in this little house and water bucket they had made for him.  She is so sweet!
 

Cami told me she put Froggy back in the sandbox which is where they found him.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that Froggy didn't get loved to death and that he is in fact still enjoying life in the "sandbox" which is really a pond since we left the top open during the rain! A great place for a Frog to live as well as mosquito larva!  I will listen for Froggy again today to see if he is alive and well.
   

Well....off to get moving on my day.....just wanted to share my pictures of our temporary pet frog!

Busy planning a special birthday for Cara!

Finishing off our plans for NY.....I am excited to see family and friends. One week from today!!! Yahoo!

Must squeeze in some sort of a haircut within this next week! One of my least favorite chores. The boys got theirs, Cami got hers....now it is my turn and Cara and I are trying to decide if she wants to cut her hair short!

One teacher conference down, one to go! 

2 more days til the weekend! YAY!

Mannie starts his baseball season this Sunday!  Hope the weather is warm this weekend.

Backyard Geysers!

 Good morning!

Yesterday we did a little science experiment with mentos and soda....and we made a geyser! I used a toilet paper roll to slide the Mentos into the bottle....just kind of morphed it into the right size.

Quick, fun little backyard science.

They want to try it with water next to see what will happen.

And they told me that they won't eat candy and soda at the same time because they don't want their stomach to erupt!!  

I may just let that myth continue! 

Anyway, good fun! and to think I could be taxed for this project!!!  Taxing learning!! :P

Today looks gorgeous, can't wait to figure out what to do other than cleaning and laundry and kid pick ups and drop offs!

Lazy Day at War!

 Today is a very lazy kind of day.

Charlie had a birthday party to attend and that is about all we have done!

The girls are still in their pj's!

We made little Easter eggs, 
 watched March Madness and Mannie and the kids played War!

Cami is the War champion!
   They were trying to figure out what the winner gets and what the losers had to do and Cami's take on the situation was....."Winner gets candy and losers had to go potty!" Apparently going to the bathroom is considered the worst possible scenario in this house!  or just any chance to mention the word potty or anything related is taken when ever possible!

Yesterday was softball and baseball....2 games for Cara and one for Charlie so we had to split up for the second games.....then Gia and Gramps took us out to dinner for an early birthday celebration for Cara!
I could go for that chocolate little cake right about now!! I may have to go bake some chocolate muffins!! :) 

Anyway, we had a great time at dinner! 

That was the extent of the fun for the weekend!  Cleaning on tap  for this week!

Time to go watch Green Eggs and Ham with the family for the millionth time this week...and make something chocolatey!!(sp?)
