Happy President's Day!
We enjoyed a nice, quiet President's Day! No President related activities except maybe spending some "dead Presidents" ;)
We have some news....Cara returned her bird, Cookie, and got a new FRIENDLY and adorable bird that she named, Michael. He is an English Budgie. So he looks like the other parakeets except bigger. He is a sweetie and I am hoping that he is the answer to Cara's prayers for a "faithful friend".
Cami also got a cute little parakeet since her little "Sky" passed away. She named him, "Cloudy".
So, we are back to having 5 parakeets again and all is well in the Adams' household!
Other weekend news:
The girls had a cheer performance and it was AWESOME!! Of course, I am the mom, so of course I will say that! It was so fun to see them all excited and dressed up in their uniforms!! I was a cheerleader as a kid so it brought back memories!!
We had a great time. Mannie's sister, her hubby and kids were in town so they came as well as Gia, Gramps and the Motta's! We went out to eat after and it was FUN!
We also tried a new (for us) restaurant on Friday. It was AWESOME! But if you have never been, you don't want to go on a full stomach!
Here's what we ate....buffalo wings (spicy!!!) and fries....the kids got sliders and mac and cheese which they LOVED!!
I had a salad too and then the BIG burger!!! Here is a pic!
Mannie had a pancake, fried egg, fried chicken and bacon platter!!
On Sunday, we had a family picnic at the park with the family. We got to meet our new doggy nephew and Indy got to meet her doggy cousin! Lio is the cutest!! Very well behaved too! We celebrated birthdays with a pinata, lunch, cupcakes and naturally.....a long walk. We ended up at the kids play area with 2 very tired dogs and kids who were having a blast with their cousins!!
She is such a beauty!
Today, the kids were busy, busy doing there own thing. I sat down to make a list in an effort to get my thoughts clear and try to tackle things I have been wanting to/ needing to do for a while.
I wrote down the chore type ones. Then I got to thinking about my "Wish" for 2012. Every year our family says our wishes for the new year at our annual beach bonfire at Christmas. My wish was for travel!
Well, we have been to 2 new states already so I am on my way. But the more I think of it, I may have a small, tiny change of heart.
When 2012 is over, what do I really want to say I accomplished? Lots of travel? Well, okay, that is my passion so maybe. But mostly, I just want to get my life organized.
I have a friend whose home looks like a Pottery Barn catalog. I am not saying I am jealous...I am in awe! How do you stay so clutter free? I walk in my house and see backpacks and sweatshirts on the floor, then of course, it is an obstacle course to get into my kitchen in our effort to keep Indy from pooping on our hallway/dinning room carpeting. It is automatic "eye stress". Then there is the upstairs.....the place I never want visitors to go see but they always manage to find their way up there! And the grand finale is my dreary, uninspiring bedroom with hoaderesk closets both "him" and "her".
I started the redo our bedroom decor in Jan. and then completely came to a halt with all the Giants excitement. Now Cami's softball is starting up and then baseball so I foresee any available home improvement weekends vanishing into thin air.
I may have to just do it alone if my room is ever to make a change. I started a list of all the organizational projects that I want to accomplish before the year is done. Let's see how it goes.
I feel like just when we start to get organized, a new phase of life begins and then just like that I am back to the starting line. Whether it be the kids growing and moving up a clothing size (thus needing to clean out drawers) or one of the kids deciding that they no longer adore dinosaurs leaving me with 10,000 dinosaur toys...it is a constant struggle to find places to store things so that I don't feel like the walls are closing in on me.
The solution is easy......stop buying new things. Proff of this concept is Charlie's room. He loves Legos but that means Lego creations all over his room. The answer to this problem is to just stop buying sets. However, hat leaves nothing when birthdays and holidays arrive but my goal is to figure out the perfect solution for all involved!!
Goals for this week:
Keep it simple....
1.have kids pick 10 stuffed animals to donate.
2. Think about Lego issue.
3.Pick out just 10 things from MY closet to give away. I need to do more but I am just going to start small because small works for me.
4. Non related to organizational goal but a "to do" for the week....CRAFTING with a purpose! More on that later!
That is all for now, hope you had a great day!!!!
